clap clap
The day gets merrier! I have received ARCs (Advance Reading Copies, not, as [info]pnh once excellently ranted, "advanced reader copies") of Salt and Silver. I'm used to seeing ARCs with Tor's friendly blue paper covers, but this! This has a real cover! Almost like it will be a real book!

Famous people who mysteriously read my journal without telling me: I know you have always wanted to write reviews of my work. You know it too! Now, at last, is your chance.

why yes I am made of awesome
I've been sitting on this for a bit, but:

Salt and Silver is up on Amazon! Available for preorder and everything!

I kept a lid on because I was waiting for the back cover copy to go up:

Allie can't seem to get it together. Ever since her mom ran away
to Rio with Rio -- her tennis instructor -- stealing Allie's trust fund and her
comfortable way of life, Allie has been floundering. She works in Sally's
Diner, and lives above it. And one night in the basement, she and her friends
chant a ridiculous spell -- for money, for luck, for love -- and open a Doorway to Hell.

Ryan thinks he's got it all figured out. When the Door opened he appeared out
of nowhere, a Stetson-wearing demon hunter dressed in leather. He's assigned to
the Door, and hangs out at the diner, and when the Door disappears he is
certain that Allie had something to do with it.

But something strange is happening in Brooklyn. Something bigger than Allie,
and Ryan, and the Door in the diner basement. And when a meeting of demon
hunters gives birth to a dangerous idea, Allie and Ryan are left to wonder if
the fragile feelings growing between them can survive a trip to Hell... or if they themselves will survive at all.

Yay! I think I like the blurb [info]octette came up with better, though,
on the official Anna Katherine website:

One night six years ago, Allie and her friends got drunk and
chanted a fake spell they made up... and accidentally opened a portal to Hell.
Now it resides in the basement of the diner Allie runs, and it's a pain in the
ass -- mystical crap is always coming out, and then it has to be killed. Demon
guts get everywhere, stuff gets smashed up, there are salt circles and sigils
all over the place... It gets tedious.

The up side is that Allie gets her own personal demon hunter guarding the Door
and killing the demons: a sexy and mysterious, Stetson-wearing, snide-remark-
making, dark-eyed demon hunter named Ryan.

But after six years of jibes and sexual tension, the Door disappears at the
same time there's a surge in demonic activity -- and no one seems to know
what's going on. Not Narnia the bitchy psychic witch, or Roxie, a kickass demon
hunter from the other side of town.

It's not Allie's idea for a team of demon hunters to find another Door and go
into it to see if Hell is about to take over Earth, but she definitely wants in
on that plan. After years of seeing the havoc a Door to Hell wreaks on the
world, she's ready to grow up, take responsibility for helping open a Door in
the first place, and kick some demon butt.

Okay, and she'd also like some quality make out time with Ryan, and mortal
peril is always a turn-on, right?

If you look around the site some more, you'll also find neat quotes about Real
Magic (from academics, no less!), and under the book section, a nice, long
excerpt of the book to whet the appetite. We're still filling stuff in, but
May's a long way off yet -- keep checking. (Or poke the living beejezus out of
us if you want, for instance, some of Sally's Diner's famous recipes.)
